Nearly 4,000 people on Long Island are suffering from homelessness
We strive for a future where the less fortunate have shoes and clothing year round to get them back on their feet.
Let’s Make a Change
The Focus Has Shifted.
Our Mission
Our Story
Nearly 4,000 people on Long Island are suffering from homelessness with approximately 1,650 being children - remaining one of the highest homeless populations in the United States. Although we understand we are not going to fix homelessness overnight, providing struggling individuals with basic necessities many of us take for granted is the goal of this program. Get involved with the community many of us call home and aid us in supporting families and children to ensure proper food, shelter, and sustainability for them!
After numerous years being a part of the Track & Field team, we have used countless pairs of running shoes. Purchasing a new pair every year we soon realized how many pairs were left untouched in our own homes alone. We couldn't imagine the amount of shoes that were not being properly utilized by our own track teams. Instead of leaving our own shoes on the wayside we sought to make a difference by donating them instead. It was just a start but it furthered our desire to help others.
Our Approach.
At Long Island Aid, we aim to partner with local businesses and schools in order to give back to those in need. We believe our community has the power to alleviate some of the many burdens individuals carry with them on a day to day basis. As such, our donation methodology supports our approach. Our donations are engineered to benefit communities and aid in closing the ongoing struggles homelessness presents.
With the help of local schools and businesses we can collect numerous donations through what are known as “box locations”. These box locations can be utilized in order to collect lightly used/new shoes that will be properly distributed to a variety of homeless organizations!
All items collected will be immediately donated towards local homeless shelters. All items will be properly packaged to ensure high quality and be properly delivered to the correct locations!
Fall Drive.

As this is Long Island Aid’s first drive our goal is to collect two thousand and twenty one pairs of shoes that will be directly donated to various homeless shelters! We are accepting donations of new & used in good condition/gently worn shoes. Furthermore, any sort of financial assistance is absolutely appreciated and will be used directly to purchase new shoes that will be utilized during this fall drive. Any purchases will be made at local businesses in order to help stimulate the local economy and consequently give back to our local stores who have been heavily affected through COVID-19.

Will Kurka

Hi, I’m Will. I'm 18 years old and currently attend Farmingdale State College as a freshman.

Throughout the course of the pandemic I’ve looked to expand my volunteer experience through numerous local support drives. By utilizing my computer experience I successfully provided aid for those struggling to schedule COVID-19 vaccination appointments. As this pandemic gradually comes to an end, many people are still struggling on a day to day basis. Therefore, I wanted to utilize my previous experience and initiate this program to help those who are at most risk.

Hi, I'm Francisco. I'm 18 years old and a student from Farmingdale State College. I've always wanted to make a difference, whether big or small. I have sent my outgrown clothing and shoes to those less fortunate in Colombia and want to continue on a bigger scale on Long Island. I am excited to be a part of Long Island Aid and continue my passion for helping others.
